April Fools!

It may not be the first of April, but you can never be too careful. All throughout the year many computers are consumed by viruses, spyware, and malware. All of these thing’s are a B**** to get rid of, so the only way to be safe from them is to not get them in the first place. Since I am an avid technology user, I have come across, heard of, and seen many different viruses. So here are a few tips to avoid getting viruses, spyware and malware:

1. Scan your computer weekly. This may seem basic, but you never know when you get a virus. Also if you want you can do daily quick scans of your computer.

2. Update often. Again, this may seem basic, but newer viruses are invented by the minute, so updates to security software is essential.

3. When you get a virus immediately disconnect from the  internet. Many viruses can connect to a certain host to deliver information, so disconnecting can save your information. Also some viruses can travel through networks to other computers so also turn off your router if you have to.

4. This pertains to the April Fools Virus. On that day or week disconnect from the internet. You can go outside and have fun too.

5. If you have Linux you can access your windows partition and delete the virus (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9h3q5ss40oY). (If Loop, “You can also get another version from eHow: http://www.ehow.co.uk/how_6921995_remove-windows-virus-linux.html“)

6. Get a security software if you don’t have any. You can download Norton for free for 3 months.  Windows has something called Microsoft Security Essentials, which is free and gives you good protection . A few other security softwares that are good are Verizon Security Suite, AVG, Avast, and also McAfee.

Hopefully, these tips give you the information you need. If you have any other tips, feel free to leave them in the comment section below.
